LESSONS

What is the first lesson like?

Here at Mellis Music Studio, we’re all about customizing the learning experience to the client! The first lesson is laidback and will consist of getting acquainted, establishing current level of knowledge and ability, setting musical goals, and reviewing songs that you’d like to add to your repertoire! We want you to be both comfortable with and excited about your time here. Whether you want to play classical guitar or sing Top 40 hits, it’s important to us that you’re looking forward to learning and that your lessons with us encourage that love.

How often will we meet for lessons?

Our instructors all schedule lessons on a weekly, recurring basis. This is intentional, as we believe weekly lessons are a vital part of become “fluent” in your instrument. For this reason, we don’t offer less frequent lesson schedules. You and your instructor will choose a time, and that will be your weekly appointment. Your instructor will make sure you have the tools and knowledge you need to practice at home and advance your skills!

What’s the youngest age you accept for lessons?

It depends on the student and the situation. In general, we recommend that the student is old enough to read and follow instructions.

I see that Jennifer teaches fiddle, but what about classical violin?

While Jennifer is classically trained, she is not offering classical violin lessons at this time! If you’re interested in some rollicking good fiddle lessons though, she’s the woman for the job.
