What comes to mind when you think of music lessons?
Decades ago, music lessons were often associated with strict/intimidating professors, pages and pages of theory/composition, and enough musical scales to make you long for sweet escape. Whether starting new lessons or picking them back up, nobody today wants to feel guilty for not wanting to practice the song they didn’t want to learn in the first place at a location that made them feel like running. Shocking.
At Mellis Music, our students describe lessons at our studio as “homey,” “professional,” “fun,” “exceptional,” and “healing.”
Please excuse the humble brag, but it’s important for you to know that we take very seriously that music lessons shouldn’t create an aversion to music, but a PASSION for it.

Paperwork & Prep
Ready to start lessons? Download, read, print, and sign our studio policy paperwork.
Once you’ve completed these forms, bring them to your first lesson and you’re good to go! If you have a list of songs that you’re interested in, or any questions that you’d like to explore in person, bring those too! If your teacher has additional instructions prior to your first lesson, they’ll be in touch!

First Lesson
The first lesson is easy-going and mostly centered around getting to know each other and gathering information. Be ready to talk about your goals (if you have any specific ones noted), your past musical experiences, and any other things that make you excited/nervous to start!
Our #1 goal is that you would love music. Our #2 goal is to help YOU become the musician you want to be. We’re here to serve and are excited to start the music lesson journey with you!
